The High Council

As the landscape of Avadon evolves, so too, does its council.

Most council members were returning members. Elven, a stalwart of the rankings, continues to provide his expertise. Audemars Piguet’s sharp insights have been invaluable. Doobson, with his keen understanding of Town Struggle and its players, remains a fundamental member. Ansem, the leader of the high council, lends his guidance and wisdom to the fellowship. Piers, Roy, and Wolf, representing a unified voice, bring a multifaceted perspective.

Joining this seasoned assembly for the first time are Morg and Ghussy from [-_-], introducing fresh viewpoints and enhancing the diversity of the council’s judgment.

It’s worth noting that council member Nachos after many years of service, took his leave, retiring from the council’s duties. King Laric IV, like the rest of his guild, was notably absent. As we move forward, the rejuvenated council promises to maintain the same rigor and dedication in its assessment of Avadon’s best.

A heartfelt gratitude is in order to the Council. Their dedication in sparing valuable time, their unwavering commitment to data-driven research, and their unprejudiced evaluations have been paramount in discerning the true elite within Avadon. Their tireless efforts to distinguish the best of the best deserve the highest commendation.

Once again, for an hour and a half, the council deliberated

Rest assured, each contender for the Power Rankings was given meticulous and comprehensive consideration. The council recognized the dedication, skill, and strategy that each player brings to each event. Our evaluation process was thorough, ensuring that every participant’s performance, potential, and contribution to the game were fairly and fully assessed. This wasn’t a cursory glance at the leaderboard, but rather, a deep dive into the talents and capabilities that make each town struggle so vibrant and competitive.

The conclusion we reached held significant weight: the council decided to delineate a list of the top five performers in both shooters and callers for the Ultima Online Outlands Town Struggle of 2023’s third quarter: July, August, and September.

These decisions were of great importance, affecting the future landscape of the Outlands community, and possibly the world of Ultima Online at large.

Rankings and Rationale:

Esteemed wizards and friends, I have the privilege to unveil to you, the distinguished Top 5 Outlands Town Struggle Shooters and Callers for Q3 of 2023. These individuals embody the pinnacle of skill and prowess in their respective fields during the third quarter of 2023 in Town Struggle:

Shooters

1. Kitty Meow Meow – unanimously voted #1 this quarter and it should be no surprise to anyone as they were ranked #2 in last quarter’s rankings. You know when this voiceless wonder joins your team there is going to be some blood shed.
2. Joseph D’bow – This Joe proved he wasn’t average as he achieved what many only dream of as he skyrocketed from an honorable mention last quarter to the second. best. shooter. in. outlands. in Q3. Great job Joseph, you earned it.
3. P’Another returner from Q1/2 rankings that rises from #4 to #3 for this quarter’s rankings.
4. Doobson – is it the 250 HP or the farts, we don’t know, but when you get this shooter on your team, you know he’s going to perform.
5. Socheng Sol – No one on the council knows how to spell this guy’s name, but everyone knows who he is. A perfect way to cap off the top 5 shooters in Q3, Socheng brings results and brings them consistently when he’s shooting on your team.

Honorable mentions:

  • Johnny Wick – Johnny came towards the last month, but can easily find himself in a top spot in Q4 if he keeps his performance up. The council and its scouts are watching 👀.
  • Moshique – Great job in Q3. The council noticed your fantastic k/d, humble attitude, and consistent performance while remaining low key. Keep up the great work and we’ll be sure to see you in Q4.
  • Dyara – Dyara went from a PvMer to a top 3 all-time kills in Q3 in TS. A fantastic shooter, the sky is the limit for them.

Callers:

  1. Morg – Unanimously voted by the council as the number one caller for Q3 in 2023. Morg brings everything players look for in a TS caller and more: a cool & calm demeanor, a humble attitude, game IQ, and, most importantly, wins.
  2. Void Gorefiend – Void has improved so much that most of the council and its scouts have whiplash from the ascent void has made this quarter. He comes in solidly at #2.
  3. Try Me Son – A surprising and humbling addition to this list, Ansem brings a cool head, positive attitude, and impressive win ratio to every game he calls.
  4. Supreme – The council was impressed by their interactions with Supreme. His speed in calling and decision making are second to none. Supreme earns himself a top 5 spot.
  5. Alee – Everyone loves playing with Alee. His voice is silky smooth like butter and when he flows, it’s magical. He always keeps his team’s morale high, always helps the new players, and always says “GG” at the end of every game, win lose or draw.

Honorable mentions:

  • Morgy – Same feedback as last quarter. Morgy is a great caller and she is sure to never let it be quiet in your game; the council would just like to see her step up and take a more prominent calling role if she is to be featured as a top 5 caller.
  • Goat – Goat is doing great and caught the eyes of many council members directly, he just arrived at the end of the quarter and simply needs more time. If he maintains his current trajectory we will definitely see Goat’s name again in Q4.
  • Saiyan Koroshia – Has come a long way and everyone on the council agreed that his name should be in the discussion in some way based on his performance in Q3. Nice Job.

Additional Findings

The council had a list of about 20 names for both shooters and callers, totalling 40 possible candidates for top 5 in each category. One thing that absolutely decimated the prospects of both potentially returning rankers from last quarter and new considerations alike was a poor or quitting attitude. While the council hates to name anyone in a negative light, we must be transparent and point out clear examples for poor behavior that will not only keep you off the list, but should not be tolerated. For example, players such as Fleet and Kamikaze, despite their notable skillsets, have shown tendencies to waver in their commitment and resilience during critical moments. When times get tough, their attitudes can adversely affect team dynamics, sometimes even leading them to prematurely abandon their teammates. This act of quitting not only tarnishes their reputation but also disrupts the synergy and commitment of their team.

The council also noted that Get Shot, while not in consideration for a top caller or shooter position, had a notably horrible attitude in Q3 in every game observed by a council member. He verbally fought with almost every person in every game he was in. Council member Morg notes “I didn’t play a single game with Get Shot that he wasn’t tilted in” – the council reminds everyone that they should try and be a positive and helpful player to their team.

The council noted that once a Town Struggle has commenced that you are entering into a covenant with every other player and investing 30 minutes of your time, and to waste the time of other players will not only never earn you a position on the top 5 list, but is one of the worst things you can do. The council urges players to always bear in mind the larger picture: not just individual achievements but also the collective experiences of all participants. A positive attitude and unwavering commitment are paramount, not just for securing a coveted ranking, but also for fostering a harmonious and productive gaming environment.

In Conclusion

The journey through Q3 has been nothing short of spectacular, with many unexpected twists and turns in the realm of Avadon. This quarter’s power rankings, built upon the meticulous research, analysis, and judgment of the council, have ushered in fresh faces while also celebrating the continued excellence of returning players.

For Callers:

The unanimous vote for Morg to be crowned the top caller speaks volumes about the remarkable qualities he brings to the table. His combination of strategy, emotional intelligence, and winning attitude is unparalleled. Close behind are other formidable callers like Void Gorefiend, whose meteoric rise caught the council off-guard, and Ansem, whose dedication and positive outlook have cemented his place in the rankings. Supreme’s quick thinking and decision-making prowess are things of legend, and Alee’s unwavering spirit and sportsmanship make every game memorable.

For Shooters:

Kitty Meow Meow’s rise to dominance, securing the top spot, is a testament to their unmatched skill, continuing from their stellar performance in the previous quarter. Following closely, Joseph D’bow, once an honorable mention, has showcased exceptional talent, securing his place as a force to be reckoned with. P’s consistency is commendable, as they continue to hold their position amongst the elites. Doobson, with his unique style and tactics, is a surefire addition to any team, guaranteeing outstanding results. Lastly, Socheng Sol, even if hard to spell, is a name that rings loud in the corridors of Avadon, embodying skill and consistency.

In the grand tapestry of Avadon’s power dynamics, these rankings capture a snapshot of the present, giving due credit to the best of the best. The amalgamation of empirical data, strategic insights, and the intangibles of spirit and morale have sculpted these lists. As we progress further into the realm of Avadon, it remains crucial to remember these milestones, for they not only celebrate triumphs but also inspire future champions.

And so, as we look forward to the challenges and glories of the upcoming quarter, let the lessons, tales, and legacies of Q3 2023 be our guiding light. The council thanks every participant for their contribution and urges everyone to keep the flames of competition burning bright. The future awaits, and it looks promising.
